Unspoilt France on our doorstep
There's no shortage of things to do around and about. We're excellently placed for a quiet relaxing holiday in a beautiful part of unspoilt France or you can get out and about - we've listed things within a reasonable day trip of Bellebouche.
In the locale
Walking/Cycling - Our little hamlet sits on the edge of the Thouet river valley and our house is on the circuit for a number of delightful walks that take in watermills, stepping stones across the river Thouet, a 16th century chateau with snail farm and an old 11th century Roman bridge.
Gourge, the local village has a delightfully old 11th century church, one of the oldest in France. There are also places to eat, drink and buy suppplies.
Watersports / Wind surfing / Swimming - at the Lac-du-Cebron
Parthenay - is the local town and is 13km away from Bellebouche. It is full of history with a wonderful medieval quarter and a handful of old churches.
